Scarborough Little League

Scarborough Little League would not be possible without the volunteer support of our many parents and local Scarborough community members.

How to Register

Please register as a volunteer in the Registration Info links as you register your players for the 2025 season. If you have already created an account, go to the "MY ACCOUNT" section of this website and from the SportsConnect menu, choose to register as a volunteer.

If you have questions about volunteering not answered here, please email the league at [email protected].

About Volunteering

We are a volunteer organization and could not operate without the generous support of so many parents, grandparents, and community members.

There are a number of areas you can help Scarborough Little League and no prior knowledge of baseball or softball is needed! We also provide training for many areas including coaching, umpiring, field help, and more.

Remember, if you are busy, we can use your help in many ways and it doesn't have to be for hours each day! Even just helping once a season at the Snack Shack during a game is a huge help to all our Scarborough families.

Volunteer Roles

Head Coach Leads the team, plans practices, teaches skills, and fosters a love for the game. Sets the tone for teamwork, sportsmanship, and fun.
Assistant Coach Supports the Head Coach during practices and games, teaches fundamentals, and keeps the team organized and encouraged.
Team Parent / Dugout Parent Helps with team communication, snack coordination, and keeping the dugout organized—especially helpful with younger age groups.
Umpire Ensures fair play and rule enforcement during games. Base umpires are a great way to get involved. Training is available!
Concessions Volunteers at Peterson Field serve snacks and drinks. Proceeds go toward supporting the league and field improvements.
Field Prep / Maintenance Prepares fields by lining, raking, and maintaining equipment. Helps keep playing environments safe and professional.
Announcements / Music Enhances the game-day experience with player announcements and upbeat music. A fun way to get involved with a microphone!
General Help Great for anyone who wants to help but isn’t sure where to start. Event setup, Game Day support, and other flexible tasks.

Volunteer Requirements

All volunteers with Scarborough Little League are required to complete the following steps:

  1. Create a user account on the Scarborough Little League website (through SportsConnect).
  2. Register as a volunteer for each appropriate program (e.g., 2025 Baseball or Softball, by target division):
    • Click "Register Myself" (or go to "Volunteer" in the account menu and click the "Register Now!" button).
    • Choose the program you want to support and complete all fields marked with an asterisk (*).
  3. Complete the Little League-mandated background check once per year (usually before the Spring season).

Per national Little League policy, a nationwide background check is required. This is run through Little League’s partner, JDP. The league Safety Officer submits the personal information you provide during volunteer registration to JDP, which then emails you a secure, personalized link to complete the background check process. Results are sent directly to the Safety Officer for review.

  4. Complete any required or optional training based on your volunteer role (coach, assistant coach, umpire, etc.).

Scarborough Little League and/or Little League International may offer or require training. Details will be shared with you before the season begins.
