Help Us Bring Lights to Peterson Field
Scarborough Little League is growing faster than our field space. In 2026,
we expect to have 60+ teams and well over 500 players.
We’re launching a major capital campaign to install
lights at Peterson Field so every player has the time and space to play.
Why We Need Lights at Peterson Field
As our league has grown, field capacity has not kept pace. Many families have experienced
the impact of limited field time—last season, we even had to send Scarborough teams
outside of town just to play each other.
Installing lights at Peterson Field in 2026 is the most impactful improvement we can make. It will:
- Create more field time for practices and games
- Reduce the pressure caused by limited daylight
- Help keep programs affordable for families
- Ensure kids can practice and play right here in Scarborough
- Support safe, well-maintained fields for 500+ young athletes
Our Partnership with the Town of Scarborough
In partnership with the Town of Scarborough, Scarborough Little League will invest
over $100,000 to bring evening field time to our families. Softball has been able
to use lighted school fields at times, but baseball has had no equivalent option.
Expanding capacity at Peterson will unlock more practice and game slots across the league,
easing scheduling bottlenecks and benefiting both baseball and softball for years ahead.
Scarborough Little League is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, so your donation may be tax-deductible.
Any funds raised beyond the lighting project will go toward improving other Scarborough fields.
Phase One Goal: 300 Families at $100+
For Phase One, we are asking 300 Scarborough families to donate $100 or more. We deeply appreciate
your consideration — and your help sharing this campaign with others who may be willing to give.
Your generosity will open up more space to play for years to come, supporting athletes today and for generations ahead.
Sincerely,
Scarborough Little League Board of Directors
